Over 100 participants
At the present it is being discussed that art and music lessons should finally belong to the curriculum of the primary and secondary level schools in Cape Verde. Delta Cultura already works actively in the promotion of creativity in children and young people. As probably one of the first primary schools on the island Santiago the local EBI (primary school) at the main square has already begun to give art lessons in Tarrafal. Just a reminder their head master Adilson is former Delta Cultura coworker and active member of Delta Cultura.
The Human Rights Project realizes “The Play” in Tarrafal
In February over 200 Capeverdean children and youths will create a photographic art piece together with the Austrian photographer Lukas M. Hueller and Juliane R. Hauser. The artistic and educational project called "The Play" will be realized in Tarrafal by The Human Rights Project in cooperation with Delta Cultura Cabo Verde. "The Play" is a photographic interpretation of Article 31 of The Convention on the Rights of the Child and is inspired by Pieter Bruegel's painting "children's play". The idea is to reflect a mirror on society as seen through children's eyes.
Batukinhas Fidjus di Delta CD/DVD release
The group Batukinhas Fidjus di Delta led and created by Marisa in the year 2004 has brought their first CD/DVD out on the market. Thanks to an American Capeverdean businessman who financed the recording and production the girls can proudly present their first CD/DVD with the title Kriánsa unidu (United Children) . The Batuku group consists of 20 girls between the age 6 and 14 years old. The topics of the songs are everyday life in Cape Verde, the children of the country and of course the still recently gained freedom (35 years) of the country. Marisa composed and wrote all the lyrics of the songs.
